When I landed at Heathrow, I didn't have any gloves. This was back in 2015 and in the middle of February so it was icy cold and I still had to make my way to Nottingham. I decided to buy some socks at the airport and put them on my hands to serve as mittens and this temporarily did the trick. Â The one thing I will never forget about moving to England was the shift in weather. It was brutal! I had grown up and lived in Tanzania so it took a while to get used to the extremely cold temperatures

I come from Kilimanjaro back in Tanzania which is known for having the highest mountain in Africa. It also has some of the friendliest people and is rich in culture and natural reserves. We almost always enjoy lovely warm weather back home so it was quite comical for me to be in a foreign land with socks on my hands trying to keep warm.
My name is Dr. Winluck Shayo and I am a husband, father, doctor, and the CEO of Afya4All which has an emphasis on supporting the development of digital "health-tech" products to provide sustainable health solutions to Africa. I moved to the diaspora, primarily because of my family and to continue my studies. I did an MSc in Management and International Business at Nottingham Trent University and now work as a doctor in Royal Derby Hospital. Even though I have been here for all these years, I still love the people and food back home. It is important for me to stay connected with Tanzania especially because a lot of my family is still there. I always stay in touch with my parents and often send them money through NALA.
Why NALA? Because NALA has really good rates! Plus, did I mention it is owned by a fellow Tanzanian like me? This really motivates me!
